Privacy Policy for Sola Coffea

This Privacy Policy describes how the Sola Coffea iOS application ("Sola Coffea", "the app", "we") handles your information. Sola Coffea is developed and maintained by WhiteMatterTech.

Information We Collect

Account and Profile Data

If you use social features (feed, Coffee Circles, following other users), Sola Coffea creates a profile associated with your iCloud account. This profile may include a display name and any coffees or reviews you choose to share publicly. This data is stored in Apple's CloudKit public database.

Coffee and Brew Data

Coffees you catalog, brew logs, ratings, tasting notes, and related content are stored in Apple's CloudKit using your personal iCloud account. This data syncs across your devices and is governed by Apple's iCloud Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your private coffee data.

Content you explicitly share to the public feed or a Coffee Circle is stored in CloudKit's public database and is visible to other Sola Coffea users.

Shop Data

If you save or visit a coffee shop, that record is stored locally and in your private iCloud container. If you are a verified shop owner, your shop's public listing, Bean Board entries, and brew guides are stored in CloudKit's public database.

Purchases

Subscription and in-app purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit framework. Sola Coffea does not receive or store your payment information. Purchase receipt verification is performed locally on your device.

What We Do NOT Collect

  • Sola Coffea does not contain advertising SDKs
  • Sola Coffea does not collect behavioral analytics or telemetry beyond what Apple provides through the App Store (crash logs, aggregate usage metrics)
  • Sola Coffea does not sell or share your data with third parties
  • Sola Coffea does not access your contacts, microphone, or camera except as explicitly initiated by you (e.g., attaching a photo to a coffee entry)

Third-Party Services

  • Apple iCloud / CloudKit: Used for data sync and social features. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple App Store / StoreKit: Handles all purchase transactions. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple MapKit: Used for shop discovery and origin map visualization. Location access is requested only when you use the shop discovery feature and is not transmitted to WhiteMatterTech.

Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated public data from within the app via Settings → Account → Delete Account. Private data stored in your personal iCloud container can be deleted by removing the app or through iCloud settings on your device.

Children's Privacy

Sola Coffea is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify users through the app or the App Store release notes.
